SHERIFF’S OFFICE RECEIVES FUNDS FROM HOLIDAY VACATIONS AND ALTOONA FAMILY RESTAURANT FOR KIDS ‘N COPS PROGRAM

A successful fundraising event hosted by the Altoona Family Restaurant on October 2nd for the Kids ‘N Cops Program resulted in a donation of $13,753 to the Program. To ensure the Sheriff’s Office will be able to serve at least 100 children on their upcoming shopping day at Target, Holiday Vacations continued their tradition of supporting this event by donating $10,000 to the cause. They were “honored to be part of this worthwhile event" and support at-risk youth.

The Kids ‘N Cops Program pairs youth with law enforcement officers for an afternoon of shopping for warm clothing, a special toy and lunch. The support of these local businesses and their patrons makes this program possible and is sincerely appreciated.

On Monday, October 2nd, 2017, the Kids N’ Cops Program will be celebrating 26 years with a local fundraiser being hosted by Altoona Family Restaurant and Sponsored by Holiday Travel from
7:30am to 8:00pm at the Altoona Family Restaurant, 2000 N. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona, WI, 54720.

Since 1991, Kids N’ Cops has united the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office and other area Law Enforcement Officers with at risk youth between the ages of 4-11. Donations and fundraisers allow the program to create a special experience for these young people. Referrals are received from schools, social service agencies and churches. Officers take the children shopping at Target for essential winter clothing and school items and also let them choose a special toy! Kids N’ Cops enables officers, family members and friends to share a little Christmas cheer while providing a positive interaction with law enforcement that lasts a lifetime. After the shopping experience, one on one time is spent while sharing lunch.
