Mass Notification System
New Mass Notification System
March 1, 2018
Eau Claire, WI -Eau Claire County Emergency Management, in conjunction with the Cities of Altoona and Eau Claire, are excited to announce the purchase of a mass notification system. Emergency officials will be able to utilize this device for any emergency that may affect our community, whether it’s a weather event or manmade incident.
The system is designed for the public to sign up and receive notifications of emergencies that may impact the safety of our community. Weather alerts from the National Weather Service, warnings for evacuation or shelter-in-place, missing person search announcements, and unplanned road closures are some of the notifications that this system will be utilized for. This system will not feed into the Eau Claire Emergency Center’s database for emergency calls.
“Between winter weather alerts, snow emergencies, natural disaster, and multiple law enforcement incidents, this tool has had the ability to help alert the public of potentially dangerous conditions multiple times this year already” says Tyler Esh, Emergency Management Coordinator. “With flooding, wildfire, music fests, and severe summer storms yet to come, we highly encourage everyone to register for this system.”
Eau Claire County residents are highly encouraged to register for alerts.
