Eau Claire Co Beach Closing Status

UPDATE:  08.31.16
Lake Altoona Beach water is now within acceptable health standards and is therefore now open for swmming. All public beaches on Eau Claire County land are within acceptable standards and therefore open.

Lake Altoona Beach is still closed at this time.

As of today 8/25/2016 Lake Eau Claire and Big Falls beaches are now open.  Lake Altoona beach will remained closed.  All levels will be tested again with updated results on Friday, August 26.

UPDATE 08.23.16

The City-County Health Department policy is to close all areas whenever water samples indicate high levels of bacteria above safe standards. The Health Department will continue to retest and the Parks & Forest Department will inform the public when bacteria levels are within acceptable health standards.

Eau Claire - The Eau Claire County Parks & Forest Department announces that water testing results by the City- County Health Department indicates Big Falls and Lake Altoona Beach have unsafe bacteria levels and are closed effective immediately. 

Lake Eau Claire and Coon Fork Lake beaches are currently within acceptable standards for swimming and therefore open. The City- County Health Department policy is to close all areas whenever water samples indicate high levels of bacteria above safe standards. The Health Department will retest the area today and the Parks & Forest Department will inform the public when bacteria levels are within acceptable health standards.
