Lowes Creek Park Fat Bike Pilot Program

Post Date:12/16/2016 2:00 PM
Eau Claire County Parks and Forest Department along with the Eau Claire Ski Striders and CORBA (Chippewa Off Road Bike Association) are excited to announce a pilot program allowing Fat Bike access to the groomed cross country ski trails at Lowes Creek County Park. This is a pilot program to evaluate expanding the use of groomed ski trails by Fat Bikes during the winter season. The use of Fat Bikes on ski trails will be limited to Lowes Creek County Park only and the program will be evaluated at the end of March 2017.

There will be signage posted on both sides of the park with guidelines for this pilot program, including a maximum temperature (30 degrees) that they may use the groomed ski trails. Fat Bikes are those bicycles which have 3.5" or larger tires and the tires must be inflated to no more than 10psi. All Fat Bike riders must yield to all other trail users
and are not to use, ride on or damage the classic ski tracks.

We look forward to expanding the use of our trails to another user group in the winter. Any questions regarding this press release can be directed to the Parks & Forest Department at (715) 839-4783.
