Clerk of Circuit Court will begin mandatory electronic filing

 EAU CLAIRE COUNTY CLERK OF CIRCUIT COURT MANDATORY ELECTRONIC FILING 

EAU CLAIRE – Eau Claire County Clerk of Circuit Court Susan Schaffer is pleased to announce that beginning February 15, 2017, electronic filing will be mandatory for attorneys filing cases and documents in Eau Claire County for civil, family, paternity, and small claims cases.  These cases will be automatically converted to electronic files on that date.  All subsequent filings in new or reopened civil, family, paternity, and small claims cases must also be electronically filed beginning February 15, 2017.  High volume filers (those filing 10 or more cases per year) will also be required to e-File.  Filing paper documents will no longer be an option.  Beginning March 1, 2017, electronic filing will be mandatory in criminal cases.

Free training is available to all filers and their staff from February 7 -17 in Room 2531 in the Eau Claire County Government Center to provide filers with an overview of the e-Filing system and hands-on training.  If you are interested in attending a session, please eMail your request to Training@wicourts.gov.   In the eMail, please include the county, date, time of the session you would like to attend, as well as the name, phone number, and eMail address of any additional staff who would be attending.  Sessions are as follows:

February 7 at 3 p.m.
February 8 at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
February 9 at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
February 10 at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
February 13 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
February 14 at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
February 15 at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
February 16 at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
February 17 at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Please visit the Wisconsin court system's eFiling site for information about new Wisconsin Statute 801.18, and additional information about electronic filing in the circuit courts at www.wicourts.gov/efile. The new rule differs somewhat from the previous voluntary eFiling rule, particularly with respect to attorney signatures and time of filing, so please be sure to review the new rule. For current eFilers, changes to the current system can be viewed at www.wicourts.gov/ecourts/efilecircuit/enhancements.htm.

Eau Claire County Clerk of Court staff will be available throughout this process to assure a smooth transition.
