The following major appliances are banned from Wisconsin landfills because they contain hazardous compounds such as mercury, PCB's and CFC's, or because there are ready markets for recycling them:

  • Air Conditioners
  • Clothes Washers & Dryers
  • Dishwashers
  • Dehumidifiers & Humidifiers
  • Freezers
  • Furnace Boilers
  • Microwave Ovens
  • Stoves & Ovens
  • Refrigerators
  • Water Heaters

Appliances in working order may be of value to companies listed in the yellow pages under "appliance repair" for resale purposes. Non-profit organizations and churches may also be in need of such donations.

Recycling and proper disposal of appliances can be done year-round at the following locations.

Residents are advised to check with these facilities in advance as to what their disposal fees are.
