Welcome to the Eau Claire County Recycling Program website.  This website was developed to provide citizens of Eau Claire County with the information you need to help you with recycling.  You can also get information on recycling by calling the Recycling Automated Answer Line at 839-6159 (or 1-800-322-8919).  The following is a more detailed description of the information that you can access by clicking on the items in the menu to the left:

• Drop-Off Locations and Hours: Public and Private - The locations, days and hours of operation of Eau Claire County recycling drop-off stations.  Also, find out where you can drop off recyclables from your household at private businesses working with the county recycling program.
• Curbside Recycling - Information on curbside recycling service and where it is available.
• How & Where to Recycle Specific Materials - How and where to recycle a wide variety of things including aluminum cans, electronic devices, clothing, appliances, fluorescent light bulbs, and a wide variety of other items.
• Brush Disposal - The location, days and hours of operation of the Eau Claire County Brush Disposal site, and the type and size of branches and woody vegetative material accepted at the brush site.
• Yard Waste Directory - Opportunities to dispose of yard waste other than brush.
• Clean Sweep - How, where, and when to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW).

These menu items are updated periodically throughout the year.  If you cannot find information about how, when, or where to recycle something in the information provided under these menu items it is likely that there are no recycling options for those items.

Program Changes And New Announcements

Periodically, there are changes that occur to the recycling program that will be noted here.  Changes can occur because of changes in recycling laws, changes in whether an item can be recycled, and changes in the marketability of recyclable items. Check this section periodically to keep up-to-date on changes that have occurred.

1. Electronic Devices Banned From Disposal - Wisconsin has banned the disposal of most electronic devices.  If you are purchasing a new electronic device and need to dispose of an old one, retail business establishments that sell you the new electronic devices are required to accept the old item and recycle it.
2. New Appliance Disposal Option - A new opportunity for recycling some appliances at no cost is now available.  The business will accept stoves, refrigerators, freezers, microwave ovens, washers, dryers if they are clean, in one piece, and have all their parts.  The business will also accept the following electronics:  Computer CPU's and printers, keyboards, laptops, stereos, radios and vacuum cleaners.  Note that the business will not take computer monitors or televisions.  The business is located on the northside of Eau Claire.  Items are accepted by appointment only - call 832-4248 if interested.
